List of Music Scholarships:

Musicians can apply for various music scholarships, whether seeking undergraduate or postgraduate support, fully or partially funded. Here are several scholarships available for Ph.D., MA, and undergraduate programs, with and without an IELTS requirement.

1. MEXT (UR) Scholarship

   - This scholarship requires applicants to submit an APU application for evaluation.

   - Outstanding overseas students recommended by APU are eligible.

   - Offered by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) to enhance global competitiveness and promote active exchange among overseas students at Japanese universities.

   - Scholarship Award: Full admission fee, 100% tuition (covered by APU Tuition Reduction Scholarship), 144,000 JPY per month for living expenses, economy class air travel between home country and APU at program start and end.


   - Eligibility Requirements

     1. Intention to study abroad in Japan from overseas.

     2. National of a MEXT-designated country.

     3. Born on or after April 2, 1988.

     4. Achieved a GPA of at least 2.30 on a 3.00 scale at the most recent university.

2. Therle Drake Postgraduate Scholarship

   - Applications must be submitted by 15 November or 31 March of the year after, or the year the project is planned, respectively.

   - All instrumentalists are eligible, with preference given to piano students.

   - Eligibility Criteria

     1. Enrolling or enrolled for postgraduate study at Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington.

     2. Scholarship can involve attending a short course, concert, or masterclass in Europe, North America, or Australia.

     3. Open to New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, and international students.

   - Selection Criteria: Enrolled or enrolling for postgraduate study at Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington, and maintaining good academic standing.

3. Fulbright Foreign Student Program

   - Graduate students, young professionals, and artists from various countries can study and conduct research in the United States through this program.

   - Fulbright Foreign Student Program is active in over 160 countries, awarding about 4,000 international students grants annually.

   - Managed by Binational Fulbright Commissions/Foundations or the U.S. Embassies, processing all program applications.

4. Cambridge International Scholarships

   - These scholarships and Vice-Chancellor’s Awards provide full financial assistance for Ph.D. study to top students, regardless of nationality.

   - Scholarships cover the university composition fee and a living expense grant for one person.

   - Application Deadline: Applicants must submit their applications by 5 January 2024, depending on the appropriate deadline for their degree, to begin their PhDs the following academic year. 

   - Application Process: Complete the financing section of the online application form through the Applicant Portal, indicating the desire to be considered for funding and completing the Cambridge Trust section. 

5. EDUFI Fellowship:

   - Designed to provide initial funding for research for a doctoral thesis in Finland.

   - Attracts excellent young researchers to Finland, many of whom secure further funding for their research.

   - Who Can Apply: Researchers or teachers in a Finnish university department hosting the research fellow, committing to common objectives, offering facilities and equipment, and supervising the research.

   - Available to all foreign nationals and all fields of study.

   - Application Deadline: Applications accepted at any time, with submission at least five months before the planned fellowship start. Decisions are sent to the applicant’s university department.

   - Required Documents for Fellows: Copy of the EDUFI fellowship decision and an invitation from the host university department.

6. Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship

   - Established by the government of Hungary to internationalize Hungarian higher education and attract top international students.

   - Graduates can forge ties at civic, political, and economic levels when they return to their home countries.

   - Application Process: All applications submitted through the online application system of Tempus Public Foundation. Applicants register, access the application system, and upload required documents. 

7. Scholarship Program for Studying in Kazakhstani Universities

   - The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan invites foreign applicants, including non-citizen persons of Kazakh nationality, for full-time Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. programs.

 Scholarships Allocations: Bachelor’s degree program – 490, Master’s degree program – 50, Ph.D. – 10.
